info@intisumberbajasakti.comPVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) pipes have long been the main choice for clean water and wastewater installations in homes and commercial buildings. However, one of the obstacles that often occurs is choosing the wrong pipe size, which can cause imprecise connections or suboptimal water flow.
So that the installation runs smoothly, here is a guide to choosing the right PVC pipe size:
1. Understand the Function of the Water Line to be Installed
Before choosing a size, first determine its function.
For clean water to the tap or shower: just use a size of ½ inch or ¾ inch.
For drainage: usually used sizes of 2 inches to 4 inches depending on the capacity of wastewater.
2. Check the Outer and Inner Diameter Size
PVC pipes are usually referred to by nominal diameter (for example: 1”, 2”), not the actual outer diameter size. Make sure you match the pipe size with the fitting or connection to be used.
3. Adjust to Water Pressure
For high-pressure water lines, choose AW class PVC pipe (thick and strong).
Meanwhile, for exhaust or air vents, just use class D or C.
4. Use Measuring Tools When Planning
Don't just rely on eye estimates. Use a meter or digital measuring tool to make sure the pipe size and installation space are appropriate.
5. Consult with a Builder or Contractor
If in doubt, ask for the opinion of a builder or contractor who usually handles pipe installations. They usually already know the standard size according to your home design.
