info@intisumberbajasakti.comA water pump is an essential device in a household water system, especially for daily needs like bathing, washing, or filling tanks. However, sometimes the water pump suddenly fails to draw or push water upwards, even though it's been turned on as usual.
This problem can be caused by various technical issues. Here are some common causes you should be aware of and check.
1. Leaking or Loose Suction Pipe
If there's an air leak in the suction pipe connection, the pump won't be able to create a vacuum to lift the water. As a result, water won't rise into the pump even when the motor is running. Ensure all pipe connections are tight and use a good sealant.
2. Damaged Foot Valve or Bottom Valve
The foot valve functions to prevent water from flowing back into the well when the pump is turned off. If it's damaged or not properly sealed, water will continue to flow back down, and the pump must restart the suction process from the beginning each time it's turned on—which often fails.
3. Tank or Pipe Filled with Air (Air Intake)
Air trapped in the pipe can impede water flow. The solution is to manually fill the pump chamber with water (priming) to release air and restore normal water flow.
4. Water Level Drops
If the water source (well or reservoir) is deeper than the pump's capacity, the pump will not be able to draw water. Ensure your pump has adequate suction power for the depth of the water source.
5. Clogged Impeller or Pump Internal Parts
Dirt such as sand, moss, or sediment can clog the impeller, the component that rotates the water inside the pump. Regular cleaning and servicing can prevent further damage.
6. Unstable Electricity
Unstable electrical voltage can also cause the pump motor to perform suboptimally. Ensure the voltage matches the pump's specifications, or use a stabilizer if necessary.
When to Call a Technician?
If all of the above has been checked but the pump still isn't functioning properly, it's likely that internal components such as the seal, impeller, or motor are worn out and need to be replaced. It's best to contact an experienced pump technician immediately for further inspection.
